As 42 Dil Translation, we completely manage the apostille or consulate approval processes of official Turkish documents to be used abroad on your behalf. Regardless of which stage of the bureaucratic processes you are at, it is sufficient to deliver your document to us; we will take care of the rest.

Apostille and consulate approval processes have become indispensable for Turkish citizens living abroad, foreign nationals who want to work in Turkey, companies engaged in international trade, and those applying for education abroad.

What is an Apostille and How to Obtain It?

An apostille (or apostille) is an international certification document developed within the scope of the Hague Convention of October 5, 1961. Turkey approved this convention in 1984, and official documents issued in Turkey are valid in 124 member countries without requiring additional consulate approval when they bear an apostille certification.

The apostille certification is added by the competent authority in each country. In Turkey, the apostille process is carried out by different institutions depending on the type of document. For population registration documents such as birth, marriage, and death certificates, the Provincial Population and Citizenship Directorate is authorized. For court decisions and documents approved by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the regional courthouse is the place to apply, and for notary-approved documents, the apostille unit of the regional courthouse to which the notary is affiliated is the place to apply.

Types of Documents Requiring Apostille

  • Birth certificate, marriage certificate, death certificate
  • Diploma, transcript, and student certificate
  • Criminal record (certificate of good conduct)
  • Power of attorney and notary-approved documents
  • Court decisions and judgment summaries
  • Company signature circular and trade registry documents
  • Work certificate and salary slips
  • Tax debt clearance letter
  • SSI service record and retirement certificate
  • Title deed and real estate documents

Consulate Approval Process

Countries that are not members of the Hague Convention (such as Gulf countries, some African and Central Asian states) do not accept apostilles. In order to send documents to these countries, first an approval by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then a separate approval process by the relevant country's embassy or consulate in Turkey is required.

As 42 Dil, we follow the entire process: we coordinate the Ministry of Foreign Affairs approval, consulate appointment, and approval application; we deliver the approved document to your address.

Full Package for Documents to be Used Abroad

In many foreign uses, the document must be presented with a combination of sworn translation + apostille or sworn translation + consulate approval. 42 Dil Translation manages the entire process from a single point:

  • Document analysis and determination of necessary steps
  • Sworn translation (notary approved if required)
  • Apostille application and follow-up
  • Consulate approval coordination
  • Secure delivery of the document to your address

Frequently Requested Consulate Approval Processes

Gulf Countries (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, etc.)

The Gulf countries are not parties to the Hague Convention. Documents to be submitted to these countries must complete the chain of Turkish notary approval → Ministry of Foreign Affairs approval → relevant consulate approval. This process is especially important for work permits, marriage certificates, and diplomas.

European Union Countries

The vast majority of EU countries are members of the Hague Convention; an apostille is sufficient. However, additional sworn translation may be required for some documents. Countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium may require additional approval at their consulates in certain situations.
